Fully-funded Grads
Health insurance benefit
The University provides the SHIP as a benefit to fully-funded grad students. The Graduate School pays the premium for all students registered with the Graduate School who receive full tuition and a full stipend from or through Cornell. If you are a RETURNING graduate student, review plan benefit changes for the 2010-2011 year.
The charge for the individual premium will appear on your July bursar bill, but you should see a credit on your bill in July or August. If you are uncertain about whether you qualify as fully-funded or do not see a credit for the SHIP premium on your bursar bill, contact your field, department, or the Graduate School.
Options and Assistance
Please e-mail or stop by our Collegetown office if you:

We are eager to help!
Review the "Insure Your Health" fact sheet collection
For more information, you can review the "Insure Your Health" fact sheet collection (pdf) prepared each year for graduate and professional students. The set includes a comparison chart to help you judge the relative value of the SHIP and other insurance plans.
Premium Refund Policy
There are only three situations in which the SHIP can be cancelled and the premium refunded. If claims from any provider have been submitted and paid for any period, no refund will be provided under any circumstances. Take the time now to learn more.
