Beginning the school year in absentia?
New for the 2011-12 academic year...
Students reported by the university registrar as being "In Absentia" in the fall semester will no longer be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). This means:
- you do not need to complete a waiver application to opt out of SHIP.
- you may elect to enroll in the SHIP, but you will need to contact our office for a SHIP enrollment form.
Deadlines
- Open enrollment for Fall students ends September 30
- Open enrollment for new entering Spring students ends February 28
Returning to campus Spring Semester?
Due to the nature of the Engineering Co-Op program, students that had an approved Inabsentia Waiver for the fall semester are required to complete the online waiver application for the spring semester if alternate insurance remains active and meets Cornell’s requirements.
