Worldwide Medical Assistance

Cornell's Student Health Insurance Plan includes worldwide travel assistance through On Call International.  

A unique feature of the SHIP, included to meet the needs of mobile Cornell students, this coverage allows members to travel more confidently, knowing that a team of worldwide professionals is waiting to assist in a moment of crisis. (On Call has 13 years experience including client relationships with 200 colleges and universities.)

How to use Emergency Travel Assistance Services

Help is just a phone call away.  

  • Call 866 525-1956 or call collect at 603 328-1956
  • Day or night, 365 days a year, travel assistance agents are available to help you through your travel-related emergency. 

Remember the 3C's of obtaining assistance.  

  • Carry your Aetna Student Health/On Call International card at all times when traveling.
  • Call the phone numbers on the front of your ID card for assistance while traveling.
  • Coordinate all services through On Call International.  

NOTE: In order to obtain coverage through the SHIP, all services must be coordinated through and provided by the experts at On Call International.

Medical Evacuation and Return of Mortal Remains Services  

In the event that a participant becomes injured and adequate medical facilities are not available locally, On Call International will use whatever mode of transport, equipment, and personnel necessary to evacuate you to the nearest facility capable of providing required care. In the event of death of a participant, On Call International will render every possible assistance in return of mortal remains including locating a sending funeral home, preparing the deceased for transport, procuring required documentation and providing a necessary shipping container as well as paying for transport. 

NOTE: any third party expenses incurred are the responsibility of the participant.
