Summer Academic Programs at Cornell

General information

We hope you will have a healthy, happy, productive summer at Cornell. But just in case, please be sure you have the health insurance you need to protect your health and your investment in this Cornell experience.

Many summer students have coverage from a parent's health insurance plan. Health insurance plans vary in the coverage they offer. Some provide excellent protection at home, but do not cover students while they are at Cornell. Carefully review any plan you have to make sure it will provide adequate coverage for you and your health care needs, both known and unknown.

The Cornell University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) has been developed especially for Cornell students to provide access to care that complements the health services offered on campus at Gannett Health Services. If you do not have adequate health insurance, you should purchase the SHIP.

Health insurance guidelines for each summer academic program at Cornell vary. Please take the time to research the requirements of your program. And if you have questions, contact us: we're here to help.

Please note: all students registered for a summer program or session are eligible to receive care at Gannett Health Services, regardless of what health insurance they have (the Student Health Insurance Plan or other health insurance coverage). Be sure to check out the Gannett website for detailed information about its staff and services. You may also want to take a moment to review the health information tailored to Summer Students.
